Position Summary:

Motion is seeking a Solutions Engineer who will be the technical bridge between our sales team, prospects, and client technical teams. You will be responsible for understanding customer environments, designing tailored solutions, and ensuring Motion’s monitoring and solutions integrate smoothly — even in complex retrofit situations.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, a problem-solver, and highly knowledgeable in BACnet and Modbus protocols. You should be comfortable working hands-on with hardware and accessories, designing integration solutions, and answering detailed technical questions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with sales and client teams to assess current technical environments and recommend Motion’s solutions.
  
• Conduct discovery meetings, technical presentations, and live demonstrations to prospects and customers.
  
• Design end-to-end solutions, including hardware and software integration plans, retrofit strategies, and new installations.
  
• Provide deep technical consultation on BACnet, Modbus, and related building automation protocols.
  
• Create technical documentation such as solution diagrams, integration plans, and bill of materials.
  
• Understand and specify the required accessories and hardware configurations to support project needs.
  
• Partner with internal engineering and product teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible and scalable.
  
• Act as a trusted technical advisor before, during, and after solution deployment.
  
• Support commissioning activities when required, ensuring smooth handoff to implementation teams.

Required Qualifications

• 3–7 years of experience in a Solution Engineer, Sales Engineer, or Systems Integration Engineer role.
  
• Strong expertise in BACnet and Modbus protocols — both theoretical understanding and practical application.
  
• Hands-on experience designing hardware integration solutions and working with field devices, sensors, and controllers.
  
• Ability to assess existing environments and create retrofit strategies to incorporate new monitoring and control solutions.
  
• Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  
• Comfortable answering deep technical questions on-the-spot in meetings and calls.
  
• Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  
• Ability to create clear and professional technical diagrams, schematics, and documentation.
  
• Willingness to travel as needed to customer sites (estimate [insert]% travel)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with building management systems (BMS), IoT solutions, and energy monitoring platforms.
  
• Familiarity with cloud-connected monitoring systems and network architecture.
  
• Certification in BACnet, Modbus, or related field.
  
• Experience with scripting or basic programming (e.g., Python, scripting for integration tasks).
