Motion impacts the full data center lifecycle. During hyper scale construction, we give GCs and trade partners defensible proof that conditions stayed within spec. During operations, we give owners the intelligence to keep them there.
Environmental contamination doesn’t start at commissioning. Motion captures the environmental impact that compounds invisibly with every trade, at every phase, and surfaces the risks that spot checks and site walks will never catch.
Motion was built for hyperscale. Companies in data center construction and technology rely on us.
Construction phase monitoring
captures particulates, gases, temperature, humidity, and more from first pour through substantial completion.
Commissioning intelligence
gives commissioning teams environmental baselines they can defend, built from continuous, phase by phase monitoring rather than a single point in time assessment.
Turnover data records
package the full environmental history of your facility into a turnover ready record that owners, commissioning agents, and legal teams can trust.
Real-time alerting connects the dots across sensors, zones, and environmental parameters simultaneously, surfacing the early signals of drift.
Standards compliance validates environmental performance against your facility standards, from copper and silver reactivity limits to particulate classifications to IAQ flush out requirements.
Enterprise level encryption and continuous security updates
ensures your data is protected at every layer with enterprise grade encryption and continuous security updates.

FAQ
What is Motion?

Motion.cloud is a mission-critical environmental monitoring platform built for hyperscale data centers. We provide continuous, real-time visibility into the environmental conditions that impact infrastructure reliability, standards compliance, and construction quality from groundbreak through turnover and into ongoing operations.

Our platform combines a fully managed field hardware deployments with a web and mobile intelligence layer that captures particulates, corrosive gases, temperature, humidity, differential pressure, and more

During construction, Motion deploys independently on any active jobsite using a LoRaWAN sensor mesh with cellular backhaul. Motion requires no dependency on the GC's site network, no IT scope, no disruption to trades. We monitor environmental conditions across every phase of the build and produce the defensible data record that protects GCs at turnover, shields trade partners during construction, and gives commissioning teams baselines built on months of continuous evidence rather than a single test.

After turnover, Motion serves as the environmental validation layer that no BMS or DCIM was designed to provide. Your BMS monitors equipment. Motion monitors the environment that equipment operates in detecting contamination drift, validating remediation efforts through partnerships with certified specialists, and documenting ongoing compliance continuously rather than at periodic intervals.

Motion is not a sensor company, a general building management system, or a DCIM tool. We are the environmental intelligence platform for the teams building and operating the world's most demanding facilities.
Who uses Motion?

Motion is built for the teams responsible for building, commissioning, and operating hyperscale data centers. Our platform serves general contractors, commissioning agents, CSIs, electrical contractors, mechanical contractors, and the owner/operator teams who inherit these facilities at turnover.

During construction, GCs and trade partners use Motion to maintain continuous environmental visibility across every phase of the build from substructure through substantial completion. Our data protects GCs from liability by documenting environmental conditions during each trade's scope of work, and gives commissioning agents evidence-based baselines built on months of continuous data rather than a single point-in-time test. After turnover, owner/operator teams use Motion as the environmental validation layer for active data centers, detecting particulate contamination, validating remediation efforts, and providing ongoing compliance monitoring against ASHRAE TC 9.9, ISO 14644-1, and ANSI/ISA-71.04-2013 thresholds.

For facilities experiencing active dust remediation programs, Motion is the data backbone that confirms whether engineering interventions and cleaning efforts are producing sustained, measurable improvement.Whether you're a project manager tracking environmental risk during construction or a facility engineer validating air quality in an active data hall, Motion provides the intelligence layer that no BMS, DCIM, or periodic consulting assessment was designed to deliver.
What is contamination drift?
chevron down icon
Contamination drift is the slow, invisible accumulation of environmental threats inside a facility during construction. Threats like particulates from concrete cutting and drywall finishing, corrosive gases from adhesives, welding, and curing compounds, humidity swings from open building envelopes, and pressure imbalances between zones that migrate contaminants into areas that are supposed to be clean.

It doesn't happen all at once. It compounds silently, across every trade, every phase, every day nobody is measuring. Zinc whiskers shed from raised floor tiles settle on server components. Hygroscopic salts from concrete curing absorb moisture and accelerate corrosion. Calcium silicate dust migrates through plenums into spaces that won't be inspected until commissioning.

By the time a point-in-time test flags a problem, months of drift have already occurred and a single test can't tell you when it started, what caused it, or whether it's been resolved. Contamination drift is the reason one-time commissioning tests, periodic site walks, and spot checks are insufficient for hyperscale data centers. These methods capture a moment. They don't capture the condition. And in facilities housing hundreds of millions of dollars in compute infrastructure, the difference between a moment and a condition is the difference between a passed test and a prevented failure.

Motion was purpose-built to detect, measure, and eliminate contamination drift continuously, across every phase of the data center lifecycle.
What environmental threats does Motion monitor?
chevron down icon
Motion monitors the full spectrum of environmental conditions that impact data center infrastructure reliability and compliance. Our spec-driven sensor stack captures PM1, PM2.5, PM4, PM10, temperature and humidity, carbon monoxide (CO), total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), formaldehyde, ozone, differential pressure across zones, water leak detection, and outdoor weather conditions for indoor-to-outdoor correlation.

Depending on project requirements, we add optional sensors for sound levels, flow metering, fuel monitoring, power monitoring, and concrete cure conditions. All environmental data is monitored continuously against the standards that govern data center environmental health: ASHRAE TC 9.9 for gaseous and particulate contamination, ISO 14644-1 for particulate cleanliness classification (Class 5 through Class 8 depending on zone requirements), and ANSI/ISA-71.04-2013 for corrosive gas severity levels.

For construction-phase projects subject to LEED requirements, we also track IAQ management and flush-out compliance against LEED v4 BD+C EQ Credit 3 and 4 thresholds.

Beyond real-time sensor monitoring, Motion partners with IEA to deliver quarterly lab-verified dust characterization studies that identify the specific composition of what's in your environment: zinc whiskers, calcium silicate, hygroscopic salts, metallic particulates, viable and non-viable fungal spores. This characterization layer is critical: a particle count tells you how much is present, but only characterization tells you what it is and what remediation protocol it requires.
How does Motion work during active construction?
chevron down icon
Motion is a fully managed monitoring service. We handle procurement, bench testing, pre-provisioning, deployment coordination, and ongoing field asset management. Your team monitors the data, we manage everything that produces it.

Our construction-phase deployment uses a wireless LoRaWAN sensor mesh with cellular backhaul. This is a critical architectural decision: Motion operates on its own independent network with zero dependency on the GC's site network or IT infrastructure. There is no IT scope to add to your project, no network coordination required, and no connectivity risk tied to construction-phase infrastructure that may not yet exist.

Solution design and engineering is created specifically for each project. Our sensors and networking hardware are built for the harsh realities of active construction (dust, vibration, temperature extremes, no HVAC, open building envelopes). As the project matures toward commissioning, Motion's sensor coverage adapts and expands without redeployment or system replacement.

In practice, a typical deployment works like this: Motion aligns sensor placement and phasing to your P6 construction schedule. Sensors are procured, bench tested, pre-provisioned, and deployed in coordination with your site team. Once live, data flows into Motion's web and mobile applications where GCs, trade partners, and owner representatives see real-time environmental conditions, threshold alerts, and trend analysis across every monitored zone.

Automated alarms are configurable for various threshold breaches. For example, when PM2.5 readings exceed spec limits, alerts are routed to the relevant stakeholders with zone ID, severity level, and duration data.

Every data point is captured, timestamped, and stored, building the continuous environmental record that travels with your facility from construction through commissioning through turnover and into operations.
Is Motion secure?
chevron down icon
Motion uses enterprise-grade security, data encryption, and compliance standards to keep your information safe and your operations running smoothly. Motion's platform is encrypted end-to-end and designed to work with existing firewalls, no complex VPN setup required. Once your data is in the cloud, data from different systems (using protocols like BACnet or Modbus) is aggregated and standardized into a common format. Users then access the Motion platform through a web browser or mobile app to see real-time dashboards, receive alerts, and control devices remotely.
